David Newbury

OT/IT Security Specialist

David Newbury is a specialist in the cyber security of operational technologies (OT), with a strong foundation in engineering and design. He brings more than twenty years of experience across the aerospace, maritime and transport technology sectors, with a long-standing focus on applying rigorous, standards-based approaches to securing complex cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure.

His work concentrates on secure architecture design, vulnerability management and data protection, supporting organisations in building cyber resilience from first principles. David has led projects across telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceutical technologies, where he has conducted risk assessments, implemented secure-by-design principles, established robust security processes and deployed security programmes aligned with the IEC/International Society of Automation 62443 series, International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission 27001, and the European Union NIS2 Directive.

Drawing on multidisciplinary education in industrial design, software development and data analytics, he brings a distinctive combination of creativity and technical depth to cyber security. His hands-on experience with network hardware, embedded systems and machine learning enables him to assess threats holistically across infrastructure, application layers and user environments.

David is a certified member of the International Society of Automation and holds postgraduate qualifications in mechanical engineering, design and data analytics. He is currently focused on supporting organisations in the design, implementation and long-term operation of trustworthy and resilient digital systems within an environment of continuously evolving cyber threats.
